leo/now
🎉
This is a "now" page, a concept I first noticed on my friend Akash Goswami's site and originally borrowed from Derek Sivers. I'll come back to this page every so often to update it with progress on my short-term projects and my longer-lived interests.
What are you currently working on?
- I'm starting on my talk for newline 2025 in Ghent, about personal knowledge arrangement and my second brain. I'll see you there!
- I'm a member of the Programming Committee and the chairperson of the Student Engagement Committee for OpenInfra Summit 2025! I'm excited to get involved with it. With a projected attendance of 1,500 people, this will be the largest conference I've helped with!
- I'm at Lumi Space as a Principal Software Engineer (Web & Platform).
- I'm working on a book with some incredibly smart people at the University of Edinburgh on teaching programming across disciplines, informed by my work as a codebar organiser.
- I'm cooking up a couple of really cool blog posts, as part of my work for a more regimented content schedule for 2025. Right now, the "content schedule" is a more a list of topics I'm loosely interested in and feel I could write something about. I want more "seminal" blog posts, so I'm working on figuring out stuff I truly believe as a software engineer and writing them down.
- In my spare time, I volunteer as an organiser of codebar's West London chapter. I help run workshops to get under-represented groups into technology.
What have you recently accomplished?
While looking to the future is always interesting, I also find it's important to reflect on what I've achieved over the past few months too!
- I've open-sourced my stickers project, and I've donated it to Not Another Pizza!
- I've successfully pulled off the codebar Festival Fringe, an in-person evening of comedy, lightning talks and networking! It was a blast, and an event postmortem is coming soon (hopefully).
- I've redesigned this website to use my self-hosted wiki software as a CMS. It works surprisingly well!
- I've got LLMs running locally, on
sunset
's NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060
- I went to in Belgium for FOSDEM, and thoroughly enjoyed myself! The vibes in Brussels are truly immaculate. I even wrote a blog post about how to survive it.
- I've secured my first principal role, at Lumi Space! They do cool stuff with lasers and it makes me happy. :)
